Ventilation on Demand

Significantly reduce your electricity costs and scope 2 emissions

Automating your ventilation system can lead to millions of dollars of savings each year- critical to maximising the profitability and safety of your mine while reducing your environmental impact.

Minetek 250kW HO POD Fan

VOD isn’t just about the software that runs it. There are various devices that operate in an underground environment that need to be reliable and integrate simply into your mine's network. The design of these components is incredibly important to ensure your VOD goals are met sustainably.

MineSol will do all this work for you, leveraging off the existing designs and relationships with a range of vendors driving your VOD system to operation as soon as possible. You will get the benefit of lessons learnt from previous VOD projects which will ultimately lead to a more effective and less capital-intensive system. This gets your savings rolling in quickly and allows your Ventilation Engineers to remain focused on their jobs while still having input to the final product.

MineSol has also developed a quick system for taking the mine's schedule and using it to generate a monthly budget for VOD cost, estimating the potential reduction in electricity usage therefore producing the justification for capital.

We can help:

·         Design the system according to your mine design and complete the ventilation modelling

·         Complete a detailed cost and savings model which includes the CAPEX and OPEX budgets for the system

·         Procure all the equipment ensuring each component has a fit for purpose design

·         Setup projects crews to install and implement all the equipment

·         Complete all documentation, risk assessments, procedures, training and communication

·         System optimisation and maintenance

What is possible with VOD

A well designed, implemented and maintained VOD system is capable of integrating control of not only secondary fans but primary fans, regulators, environmental monitoring and vent duct dampeners. Through this integration I have designed a system that utilises various components from major suppliers that can be adjusted and scaled according to your mine's needs. An example of the significance of the savings possible comes from a system currently being implemented that has the potential to save over $80 million (AUD) over a 13 year period. This doesn't include further benefits achieved from scope 2 emissions reductions or increased production time from blast fume clearance optimisation. One system has achieved on average a 40% reduction of power consumed by the ventilation system. This system is around 50% installed and not yet automated to incorporate vehicle movements. By the end of 2025 this system could achieve as high as a 70% power reduction!
